Equal Opportunities Policy
Last updated: 5 August 2026
WorkBase Recruitment Ltd ("WorkBase", "we", "us") is committed to equality of opportunity for everyone we work with — candidates, employer clients, and our own team. This policy sets out how that commitment applies across our recruitment process.
On this page
1. Our commitment
We will not discriminate against any candidate or treat any employer requirement as acceptable if it discriminates, whether directly or indirectly, on the basis of a protected characteristic. Every candidate is assessed against the genuine requirements of a role — nothing else.
2. Protected characteristics
This policy covers all characteristics protected under the Equality Act 2010:
- Age
- Disability
- Gender reassignment
- Marriage and civil partnership
- Pregnancy and maternity
- Race
- Religion or belief
- Sex
- Sexual orientation
3. How this applies to candidates
- We put candidates forward for roles based solely on their skills, experience, licences, and suitability for the specific vacancy.
- We make reasonable adjustments where a candidate tells us they need them, for example around interview arrangements or communication preferences.
- We treat every candidate with the same standard of service, regardless of how they came to register with us.
4. How this applies to job briefs from clients
We will not accept, advertise, or act on a job brief that specifies or implies a discriminatory requirement — for example, a preference for a particular age group, gender, or nationality — unless a genuine occupational requirement lawfully applies to that specific role. If a client's brief raises a concern along these lines, we will query it directly with the client before doing any work against it.
5. Our recruitment process
Our process — from taking a job brief, to screening, to shortlisting — is applied consistently to every candidate under consideration for a role. Where we use any automated tools as part of screening or matching, we ensure the underlying criteria are based on job-relevant factors only.
6. Raising a concern
If you believe you've experienced discrimination in any part of our recruitment process, or want to raise a concern about this policy, contact us at info@joinworkbase.co.uk. See our Complaints Procedure for how we handle this.
7. Review
This policy is reviewed at least annually, and sooner if relevant law or our recruitment practices change.
