Modern Slavery Statement
Last updated: 8 July 2026 · Covering financial year 2026
Our commitment
WorkBase Recruitment Ltd is a permanent recruitment agency specialising in warehouse, logistics and driver placements across the UK. Modern slavery and human trafficking are a significant risk in the sectors we operate in, and we take our responsibility to prevent it extremely seriously — both within our own business and across the employers and candidates we work with.
WorkBase's current annual turnover is below the £36 million threshold at which a Modern Slavery Statement is legally required under Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We are publishing this statement voluntarily because we believe transparency on this issue matters from day one, not just once it becomes a legal obligation.
Our business
WorkBase Recruitment Ltd is registered in England & Wales and provides permanent recruitment services connecting UK employers with candidates for warehouse, logistics and driving roles. We do not supply temporary or agency labour, and we do not operate umbrella payroll arrangements.
Our policies
We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships. As part of this commitment, we:
- Verify the right to work of every candidate we place, in line with UK Home Office guidance;
- Deal only with candidates directly, and do not use unlicensed or unverified third-party labour providers;
- Require candidates to provide identification and documentation in person or via verified digital right-to-work checks;
- Train our staff to recognise the signs of forced labour, exploitation and trafficking, including candidates who appear coached, who cannot answer basic questions about their own documentation, or who are accompanied and controlled by a third party during the recruitment process;
- Maintain a confidential route for staff, candidates or clients to raise concerns about suspected exploitation.
Due diligence in our supply chain
WorkBase's own supply chain is limited — primarily professional services (legal, accountancy, insurance, IT and website hosting). Where we engage such providers, we consider their standing and reputation as part of standard supplier due diligence, and we will extend more formal supplier assessment processes as our supplier base grows.
We also expect the employers we work with to comply with all applicable employment, health and safety, and modern slavery legislation, and we reserve the right to decline to work with, or to stop working with, any client where we have credible concerns about worker treatment.
Training and awareness
All WorkBase staff involved in candidate registration, screening and placement receive guidance on modern slavery risk indicators relevant to the warehouse, logistics and driving sectors, and on the correct process for escalating any concerns.
Review of this statement
This statement will be reviewed and, where appropriate, updated annually to reflect the growth of our business and any changes in our approach to identifying and mitigating modern slavery risk.
Approval
This statement is made in accordance with the spirit of Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes WorkBase Recruitment Ltd's voluntary slavery and human trafficking statement for the current financial year. It has been approved by the directors of WorkBase Recruitment Ltd.
